Controlling Myopia

I will work mostly on two projects, linked by the common theme of controlling myopia (the focus of the Wildsoet Lab). One of my projects will involve guinea pigs as an animal model for myopia and will explore the influence of dosing on the effectiveness of atropine eye drops for slowing or preventing the development of myopia. The second project will involve human subjects and a study of anterior ocular changes induced by a specialized contact lens for myopia control.

Message To Sponsor

From day one in lab, research has been an invaluable part of my undergraduate experience. Research allows me to explore real-world problems firsthand and work to develop practical solutions - specifically, optimal treatments for myopia control. This summer, thanks to the stipend provided by the Chandra Fund, I've really been able to immerse myself in my projects. Being in lab every day, I have learned so much - about designing studies, about course-correcting when things don't go as planned, about patience and discipline - and I feel even more motivated to continue with research throughout my career. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!
