Impact Study for 1,000 Women's Gardens for Health and Nutrition

This summer I will be helping design and monitor a randomized control trial that gives young Ugandan mothers the tools and training to start small organic vegetable gardens. I will oversee field-work quality, clean and organize household-survey data, and build statistical models that track changes in harvest yields, family diets, and income. By blending rigorous research design with on-the-ground monitoring, the project will show whether a simple garden can boost nutrition and economic resilience. The findings will equip local NGOs and policymakers with evidence to scale cost-effective programs that empower women and strengthen rural families.

Message To Sponsor

Thank you for funding my summer placement with URAP and I deeply appreciate this. Working directly with young mothers in Uganda has been profoundly rewarding. As a student devoted to development economics and public health, I can’t imagine a more personal or meaningful way to apply what I learn in class. Your generosity has given me the chance to see how targeted support can lift families’ nutrition and empower women within their households. The experience is sharpening my research goals and reaffirming why I want to spend my career expanding these kinds of opportunities. Thank you!
