Strengthening Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) Resources

This summer I will focus on developing a sustainable YPAR Data Dashboard that promotes the use of youth-led research findings in SFUSD policy by mapping past projects and findings using ArcGIS. We will engage district leaders and youth, incorporating their feedback to improve the dashboard. The dashboard will also serve as a form of institutional memory, preserving the work and impact of youth over time to inform future initiatives and decision-making. Additionally, I’ll take a leadership role in strengthening the YPAR Hub, which houses the YPAR curriculum—an educational resource that teaches youth how to conduct research to address issues in their communities—by revising materials, gathering user feedback, and improving the site’s accessibility and usability.

Message To Sponsor

I would like to sincerely thank you for supporting this opportunity. In high school, I participated in YPAR, and it deeply shaped my understanding of the importance of youth-led research and advocacy. Being able to continue this work now means a lot to me, as I believe it’s crucial for youth to have their experiences and voices heard, especially when it comes to shaping policies that affect them. Your support is not only helping me develop valuable skills but also allowing me to contribute to a project that empowers young people and amplifies their impact.
