Organizational Structures in the Age of Generative AI
Generative AI is reshaping how teams divide work, set rules, and make decisions, yet most organizations adopt these tools without a clear theory of how their structures change in response. Working with Professor Eos Trinidad, I am building a framework that synthesizes a century of organizational theory (Weber, Mintzberg, Scott, March and Simon) around six core dimensions of organizational life, including roles, rules, routines, rewards, resources, and rationales. We examine how generative AI moves through organizations as tool, assistant, co-worker, creator, and supervisor, and what each shift means for the people inside them.

Thank you for supporting my summer research with Professor Trinidad on how generative AI is reshaping organizational structures! As a first-year math student juggling coursework, education, and teaching, this stipend lets me dedicate the summer to deep theoretical work I genuinely care about. Your generosity is what makes it possible for me to contribute to a paper aimed at Organization Theory in my undergraduate career.
